Bill Acker, the founder and owner of Bill Acker Consulting Services (BACS) started working for a small up and coming general contractor, Wade Perrow Construction, Inc in 1984. At the time, Wade Perrow Construction was doing just over $2 million a year in volume and Bill was the first office staff person hired. The company experienced steady, measured growth, and by the time Bill officially was off their payroll in 1992, the company was doing nearly $25 million in annual volume.
It was in these formidable years where Bill gained the valuable experience of being a significant part of that growth while wearing several different company hats. Wade Perrow Construction did a wide variety of projects, from messy remodels to new public schools, military facilities to churches, hard bid to design-build. Bill's official title when he left was Chief Estimator and Project Manager. He was also actively involved in scheduling, and negotiating with subcontractors, vendors, architects and owners.
Both bidding and then managing some of the projects awarded provided Bill with first hand knowledge of actual building costs, the practical logistics of what can go wrong, and the insight of how to anticipate for and correct the mistakes of unforeseen events that inevitably come up.
